Miswak (Siwak)
Product description
β¨π¦· Natural oral care according to the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
The miswak (also called siwak) is a natural toothbrush that usually comes from the araak tree.
The mother of the believers, 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: βThe siwak is a purification for the mouth and satisfaction for the Lord.β This hadith was mentioned by Al-Bukhari in his Sahih work (2/274).
How to use the miswak (siwak) correctly:
β Preparation
Remove about 2 cm of the bark.
β Carefully peel it off with a knife or your teeth.
Chew the fibers until soft.
β Chew on it until the wood fibers fan out like a small brush.
Optional: If the brush is still too hard, dip it briefly in warm water and continue chewing on it.
β Application
Brushing your teeth
β Use the fanned-out part like a toothbrush.
β Clean your teeth with gentle, circular or vertical movements.
Tongue and gums
β Gently brush over them to remove plaque.
β Caring for the miswak
Cut the tip regularly as soon as it becomes frayed or hard.
Store in a dry place, do not soak in water.
If it dries out: moisten briefly in water, but not for longer than a few seconds.
A strong recommendation for the use of siwak has been narrated in the hadith of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: βIf it were not a hardship for my community, I would have commanded them to use siwak before every prayer.β Narrated by Al-Bukhari (2/299) and Muslim (1/151)
